About Skills London
Skills London 2008 is the biggest careers event for young people this year. Taking place at ExCeL London on 20-22 November this is one place you’ll find everything you need to know about the career you want when you start work.
There will be loads to do when you’re there in the 12 distinct zones. You can be cooking up a storm in the hospitality zone, travelling the road to success in the transport zone, striking a pose in the creative zone and building a new vision in the construction zone. So whatever you want to do there’ll be someone to talk to and something to try.
To get to Skills London 2008 you can come with your school, college, group, family or with friends. It’s free and it’s on 20, 21 and 22 November at ExCeL London.
Skills London 2008 follows on from the success of SkillCity 2005 that was held at ExCel London.

Skills London 2008 is being organised by Prospects Events. CEO Baroness Jo Valentine is delighted that London First are launching Skills London 2008 “The initial funding support from London Learning and Skills Council and the London Development Agency will ensure Skills London 2008 will be a high profile event and represents just one of the ways in which we are responding to the needs of London businesses. The event will encourage young people to gain the right employability skills as they come into the jobs market for the first time.”
John Denham, the Secretary of State for the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills says "This careers and training event for young people in London is very welcome and very timely. Bringing young people together with employers, colleges, universities, training providers and advisers - and with each other - is an excellent idea. The event will help young people find out more about the huge range of opportunities available to them and to decide what best suits their own particular needs and aspirations. When planning your future, knowledge is power - even young people who think they already know what they want to do may get some new ideas. I am grateful to the organisers of the event and all those who are taking part in it. I hope it will be a great success".
Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London adds “I'm very pleased to support Skills London 2008 through the London Development Agency. This is exactly the sort of inspirational yet practical careers boost that young Londoners need in the run up to the World Skills competitions in 2011 and then the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012".
